Challenge
The company produces a wide range of commercial and industrial applications of PVC-based specialty films and matting for customers across a diverse set of industries, including aerospace, agrichemical, environmental, transportation, construction, and government. However, the company has continued to struggle with equipment reliability from machines that date back to the 1950s. The newly acquiring PE firm, enlisted Synergetics’ support in improving the company’s Maintenance and Engineering department.
Solution
Partnering with the Maintenance & Engineering group, along with Production leadership, Synergetics designed and implemented management processes to enhance effectiveness and gain improvements in three specific areas:
Implement a Management Operating System: Focused on the maintenance & engineering group, Synergetics trained and coached maintenance and production leaders on effective behaviors and tools to address daily and weekly challenges.
Enhance usage of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS): Expansion of usage of the current CMMS included accounting for all parts in the storeroom, all fixed assets into the system, and improved tracking of Preventive and Corrective maintenance work orders.
Organize and Inventory all MRO Parts: Organizing, counting, and uploading of all maintenance, repairs, and operations parts into the CMMS has gone a long way in controlling costs and reducing waste.
